What I Wore... #2

Last week, I decided that I don't wear enough of my clothes and that I would start posting pictures of my outfits here as a way of motivating myself.

So here's my first full post, featuring a week's worth of outfits. I found this a little hard sometimes, especially if I woke up feeling tired and found myself staring blankly at the contents of my wardrobe!

Looking back over the past week of outfits, I think some look great, others not so much. But that's what experimenting and playing around is about :)

Thursday 13th October
Longsleeved T-shirt: Matalan
Gold top: Bought from charity shop
Belt: New Look
Jeans: Marks & Spencer
Boots: Next
Short necklace: handmade (tutorial)
Long necklace: a gift from my grandparents
Ring: Bought from charity

Here's a closeup of the long necklace:

My grandparents gave this to me when I was a teenager. My grandad told me it's a 'slave necklace'. I'm guessing they picked it up on their travels somewhere. I love that it has so many little charms on it!

More outfits after the jump!

Friday 14th October
Shirt: Elizabeth Emmanuel (hand-me-down from my Mum)
Waistcoat: Miss E-vie (Peacock's kid's wear)
Cropped trousers: Esprit (bought from charity shop)
Tights: Pretty Polly (bought from TK Maxx)
Boots: New Look
Necklace: Tom Wolfe (hand-me-down from sister #1)
Rings: H&M

This is my 'Autumn in the Estate' look! Not that I have a country estate to stroll around, though there is a public footpath nearby. That counts, right?!
Somebody told me I look like I'm about to go on a cycling holiday. I don't see it myself...

Here's a closeup of the rings, because I love them!

Aren't they cute? There's a stag ring in the set too, but since it's quite chunky and I was volunteering this day, I didn't want to risk breaking it!

Saturday 15th October
Dress: M&Co
Vest: All Saints (hand-me-down from sister #1)
Boots: H&M menswear
Bracelets: Bought in charity shop
Cuff: Handmade (tutorial)

I was having a bit of a lazy day on Saturday. I'd not worn the vest and dress together like this before; the vest is incredibly low-cut so I always have to wear it over something else!
The boots were an impulse buy last year. I was in the mens section at H&M looking for a shirt for a fancy dress costume, and spotted them in the sale. I have big feet, so you can guess how happy I was to find my size lurking there :)

Sunday 16th October
Jumper: All Saints (hand-me-down from sister #1)
Vest top: H&M
Skirt: Handmade
Belt: Bought from charity shop
Necklace: Handmade (tutorial)

The necklace here is my 'Everything Necklace':

I still love this necklace! It has a great weight to it and automatically jazzes up any outfit!

Monday 17th October
Dress: Bought in charity shop
Leggings: Ebay
Belt: Hand-me-down from Mum
Boots: New Look

I failed at getting a photo of myself wearing the boots, so here's a better picture:

These boots are current season! I've been wanting some black ankle boots for a while, so when I walked into New Look and saw these peering back at me from the shelves - and in my size! - I was more than happy! I love New Look for embracing modern times and making shoes in a UK 9, for the increasing number of people who, like me, have big feet.
Other winners in the footwear category are Next and Primark. Evans go up to a size 10, but their beautiful shoes are too deep for me. :(

Tuesday 18th October
Shirt: Matalan
Cardigan: Jeff Banks (bought on sale at Kernow Mill)
Skirt: H&M
Leggings: Matalan

I was playing around with the layered look on Tuesday! The shirt is sheer, so I wore another of my collection of H&M vest tops underneath! Those vests - light t-shirt material with a spaghetti strap - are fantastic year-round wardrobe staples. Wear them on their own in the hot days of summer, with cute cardis in spring and autumn, and under other clothes through winter!

Wednesday 19th October
Top: Primark
Jeans: Marks & Spencer
Shoes: Primark
Necklace: Present from my friend Victoria
Bracelets: Handmade (tutorial)

Those sailor-style tops/cardigans sold like hot cakes in Primark! A friend tipped me off to them being on sale, so I nipped out and bought one--and I'm so glad I did! Within a week they were sold out in my local Primark,, and selling on ebay for more than the original price!

Here's a better look at the bracelets:

Most of these are pretty basic elasticated bracelets, but as you can see one is a blue version of the religion bracelet I made previously!

Well, that's it for this week! Hope you've enjoyed having a little nose at my clothes, and I'm sorry if you're tired of my face! Perhaps next week I could wear a mask...it is nearly Halloween, after all... :)

  2. A whole weeks worth! You are very disciplined.

I do love the ring set and your everything necklace.

There are many different looks, so versatile.

For the benefit of your North American followers, maybe we should state that a vest is a sweater LOL
