Studded Tassel Necklace

After digging out a bag of square studs for the easy stud necklace I posted previously, I was itching to do something else with some of the studs I had left!

I ended up making this short necklace, inspired by some Japanese street fashion photos. A lot of the stylish and adorable people snapped were wearing necklaces that looked like all kinds of non-necklace things: curtain ties, upholstery tassel, even doll parts!

Remembering the tassel braid left over from when I recovered my bedroom stool, I pulled this necklace together over the space of a few minutes!

The construction is very easy and requires a few basic stitches and a few basic jewellery-making techniques. Anyone can do it!

Bottle Necklace

Bottle necklace tutorial

Whilst browsing the internet recently, I found some cute bottle necklaces! I have a few little glass bottles that I’ve kept since childhood, so decided to turn them into necklaces!

DIY Dolly Kei Bottle necklace

It doesn’t take much to make a simple necklace, just wire, chain and basic jewellery findings. After making the first, I made more and took pictures so I could share this tutorial!

Second-hand Shopping

It always happens. Just as I decide to curb my spending a little, I get the overwhelming desire to hunt for bargains--and usually find something, too. It's also one of the perils of volunteering at a charity shop. There will always be something you want, right there, tempting you from the rail or shelf or display...

Nevertheless, I'm pretty pleased with my recent second-hand shopping haul!

Paint.

At the beginning of the year, I wrote about some of my goals for the next twelve months.
One of them was simply, ‘Paint’.

For a long time I was apprehensive about sharing my paintings, because I have felt that they ‘aren’t good enough.’

I realised that this is just silly; nobody is expecting me to be the next Van Gogh and I shouldn’t expect myself to be, either!

Also, the more practice I get, the better I should get.

So I decided to share the things I’ve painted. I uploaded them to my old deviantART account (hence the watermarks on these pictures!) but decided to post them here, too.

Stood Up Comedy

This sad little pierrot is a painting I sketched out a few years ago but never had the motivation to paint. Originally I drew something along the same lines on paper, scanned it and coloured the picture in Photoshop Elements—my first ever attempt at using a graphics tablet!
So I thought it was about time I painted the poor abandoned fool. Anyone want to give him some love? :)

Wise Man

I painted the ‘wise man’ last year; it was the first painting I’d done for a few years! I used to paint a lot of portrait-style images though these were primarily female. This time I thought I’d go for a male character!

Tears of the Sea
Siren's Secret

A couple of these paintings play around with some ideas about siren/mermaids and I’ll probably paint more involving those to explore the ideas more.

Flaming Os

‘Flaming Os’ is an old painting from 2004. I’m posting it here because it amuses me!

I’m hoping to maintain my level of motivation when it comes to painting! I’d like to try out some different styles and maybe different types of paint, too (normally I use acrylic but I have some watercolours that I’d like to get to grips with!)

So there we go. Goal #12 is under way!

Gunji x ADAPTER。 at London Anime Con 2013

It's been a while since I was able to go to a gig, but several weeks ago I found out that a Japanese musician I have been following since 2009, was playing with another Japanese musician at London Anime Con 2013!

And this time, unlike the last few times I've written about gigs, I can share concert pictures! I totally recommend both these artists, so please read on--music videos included!

Easy Stud Necklace DIY

easy stud chain necklace DIY

I put together this easy-peasy stud necklace after seeing one in a concert video! Due to this I can’t credit the original design :( But I here is a tutorial anyway.

This is such an easy DIY that even a novice could do it!
