Free Printable: Easter Egg Hunt

When I was a child, we never had Easter Egg Hunts. Instead, my Mum would cut out different coloured teddy bears, and my sisters and I would each have to seek out the bears of the colour we were given. Once we'd found all the bears of our chosen colour, we would get a prize.

Taking inspiration from this, I've created this alternative Easter Egg Hunt printable!
Rather than hunting for eggs, each participant can hunt for a specific-coloured chick, and then cash them in for their chocolate egg once they've found them all!

This is great if you only gift your kids one egg each at Easter, but want to give them the fun experience of an Easter egg hunt.
It also solves the problem of one child ending up with more eggs than the other!

I've included two versions of the same printable in this post: one coloured, one black and white.
The black and white version is here in case you'd rather print straight onto coloured card, or want to expand on the Easter activities with a colouring-in session before the hunt begins!

Easter Window Display

Last week was the window display changeover at the charity shop where I volunteer. The manager and I had decided in advance to have an Easter theme, as Easter is on its way!

After giving it some thought, and looking at the stock we had for the display, the theme ended up being along the lines of an Easter Egg Hunt!

Bad Egg cosy

Today has been lovely and spring-like, with clear blue skies and lots of sunshine!

Of course, along with spring comes Easter, and to me that means eggs. For once I’m not thinking of chocolate (okay, maybe I am a little) but delicious soft-boiled, free range goodness!

Deciding to make an egg cosy, I went to my scraps box to find I didn’t have anything particularly ‘Eastery’. But never mind—I like to do things differently :)

 

So I made a ‘Bad Egg Cosy’ and a ‘Devilled Egg Cosy’!

Free Easter Egg Hunt Sign Printable

Easter is just around the corner, and as with last year, I've created an Easter egg hunt printable!

To download this free printable, simply right-click on the image above and choose 'save link as' (or 'save target as'), or open in a new window to print straight from your browser.

Print onto card, cut out and tape/glue to lolly sticks or similar. Then let your little ones go on a hunt!

Tutorial: Chicken and the Egg Necklace

Ages ago, I found some cute chick motifs when clearing out a cupboard. I put them aside in the hope of thinking of a use for them.

Today, I made this ‘Chicken and the Egg’ necklace:

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to make one for yourself!

Time needed: 30~60 minutes

You’ll need:

Chick motif

Egg-shaped bead or similar (I used a stone)

Beads

1 m ribbon (approx)

Bead-stringing wire

Jewellery wire

Crimps

Needle & thread

1 split ring

Pliers (flat nose, round nose and side cutters)

1. First off, wrap your ‘egg’ with wire (see my agate necklace tutorial). Start by making the bails for the top and bottom of the egg...

2. ...then wrap it. At the back, I bent the end of the wire underneath itself so it won’t catch on anything.

 

  

3. Cut a piece of wire longer than you want the beaded section to be:

 (height of motif x2) + (length of beaded section) + 1~2 inches

Attach the split ring to the end of the bead-stringing wire with two crimps, spacing the crimps out. The distance between the bottom crimp and the top of the split ring should be slightly smaller than the height of your chick motif. 

4. Thread on your beads. I went for a mixture of modern wooden beads, old green beads, plus a couple of gold ones to balance out the yellow of the chick.

5. Use a crimp to fix the other end of the bead-stringing wire to the bottom of your wire-wrapped ‘egg’.  Cut off any excess wire. 

6. Thread your ribbon through the split ring...

7. ...and the top bail of the ‘egg’, leaving enough ribbon in between to slip your head through.

8. Tie the ends of the ribbon together in a bow.

9. Sew your motif onto the exposed section of bead-stringing wire and the split ring. 

 And you’re done!

Printable: Easter Egg Hunt Signs

As a child, I loved going on Easter Egg Hunts!
My mother would hide little foil-wrapped eggs around the garden (or if it was raining, around the house) and give clues to my sisters and I as to how close we were to finding one!

I'm far from organising or participating in any egg hunts this year (sob) but here's a printable for anyone planning to organise an easter egg hunt of their own!

 

As with my Mother's Day Voucher printable, these should print off on standard A4 paper/card.

Simply print, cut out, and tape to sticks or hang up with string!
